ENGAGING and Inspiring the next GENERATION through Entrepreneurship

We have a problem! Tap each icon below to find out more...

In the UK, there are currently 591,000 16-24-year-olds not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
The cost of this isn’t simply economic – these individuals are significantly less likely to contribute effectively to society.
Young people are underwhelmed by the opportunity of traditional further education options, particularly if they’re not performing academically.
1 in 5 students (100,000) leave school each year without a basic qualification having spent 15 years in compulsory education.

The barriers to a fulfilling journey into professional life for young people are aplenty. Right now, in the UK, 590,000* 16-24 year olds are NEET (not in education, employment or undergoing training.)

Because they are simply not aware of the opportunities available to them.

…and because they are not aware, they are uninspired.

As a result, employers are struggling to recruit young talent, causing a disconnect. The education system is fundamentally flawed in supporting, celebrating and capitalising on the capabilities of young people, both academically and creatively.

We have a duty to encourage entrepreneurial activities with young people as a key to unlocking entrepreneurial skills, to embrace the innovation in our economy.

1 in 5 students leave school without a basic qualification after spending 15 years in compulsory education. Right now, 700,000 15-24 year olds aren’t in any form of education, employment or training (NEET), which is a huge problem from every angle for our communities.

Fortunately, this is a problem that can be fixed with the right approach.

The organisations and individuals associated with our learning platform are working their damnedest to help address the systemic long term problems and react to the short term challenges with real solutions that get results.

Take 18 minutes to sit and watch one of the most watched videos on YouTube. Sir Ken Robinson was right 14 years ago and we’re here now offering up solutions to respond to the exact problem he describes.

We’re bringing the innovation and collaborative energy to you – for you, and we want you to come and build this platform with us. We’re in it together.

AGED 16-24?

The traditional education route might not be for you. You’ve got ‘fire in your belly’ and ideas in your mind. If so, we’re here to help you make those ideas a reality.

We are looking to take some amazing organisations and powerhouse individuals on the journey with us to support the next generation of entrepreneurs – but we need your help!

“We’ve created a platform with and for young people that best serves their needs and supports their entrepreneurial ambition.

Entrepreneurship’s the most inclusive subject, and we’re helping those Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) realise the endless opportunities available to them through a creative journey.”

Alex himself’s a young entrepreneur based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Becoming a father at the mere school age of 14 was the catalyst behind his unrelenting commitment to removing barriers to success for young people.

Attributing his motivation to the trauma of becoming a father early in his life, Alex felt he no longer ‘fitted in’ and the linear, traditional path set for young people simply wasn’t an option for him. The hunger he felt to belong and to prove his teachers wrong were the ‘situational triggers’ which led him to a moment of epiphany; he’d leave education behind and pursue his own path.

Founded in 2018, Alex established Shift Momentum – a consultancy dedicated to the development and growth of individuals, businesses, and communities. Both Shift Momentum and ‘Shifties’ are built on Alex’s impassioned belief in the role that clusters of entrepreneurs can play in both economic and social development.

Most recently he’s has been appointed Chair for the St Neots Initiative, an independent network aiming to promote the area through sustainable, economic, and environmental development and in doing so, making the town a better place to live, work and play.

Hi, I’m Sally, a Business Development whizz building new partnerships, exploring opportunities and helping our CIC grow.

I am passionate about supporting our community and am a Community First Responder for The East of England Ambulance Service and a volunteer Business Development Advisor for Home-Start Essex.

I spend a lot of time talking with business leaders who are keen to engage and make a difference but who are frustrated by the lack of opportunity to contribute effectively and unlock the talent around them. I gain enormous satisfaction by introducing them to our team, our Curious Entrepreneurs and like-minded businesses in the region.

I have been fortunate in my career to support a range of projects that deliver meaningful social impact, but never one that has inspired and given me hope at this level.

Excited? If you would like to chat more about how you, too, can help to amplify this social impact, please get in touch.

Sam Squire, CEO

Formerly aspiring to be a professional footballer, Sam’s career took an unexpected turn when, at 19 years old, he did not receive a contract renewal from Cambridge United. Finding himself NEET after 11 years of dedicating his life to sport, Sam began working with the Cambridge United Community Trust as the Youth Development Officer, where he developed and delivered various programmes to support youth in the most deprived areas of Cambridge. In the last 5 years, he has engaged with 10,000+ young people aged 6-24 in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Milton Keynes. Today, at just 23 years old, Sam uses his personal experience and professional coaching skills to drive significant change and provide strategic direction for our initiatives as our CEO.
