Meet the two new Champions from M&J Group
Welcome to our newest Ignite Champions; Dawn Thompson and Dario Barbarino from M&J Group.
When I was at school I really didn’t know what I wanted to do when I finished education. A lot of my peer group were making plans to go to university but for me that seemed really out of reach at the time. I didn’t feel I had the career support readily available today to help guide me on a decision. I started my office career at an insurance brokers who supported me doing a business apprenticeship. Fast forward a number of years and I found a stepping stone into the world of HR. I really wanted to make a difference to how people got treated in the work place and studied over a number of years part time to gain my post graduate degree in Human Resource Management. I then navigated towards specialising in recruitment and in particular I found a passion for managing early career programmes such as Apprenticeships. I’m a over protective Mum of a 10 year old boy!
I started at M&J 5 years ago as a Trainee Surveyor, I was working full time and studying Construction at college which I did one day a week. Today I am a Senior Surveyor which I have been doing for around 10 months now. I knew a few people that worked within the industry, and I feel that influenced my choice to study construction. M&J is very social in and outside of work and I get the opportunity to play 7 a side football once a month with my work colleagues.
