About the Opportunity
Are you building a business that tackles a social or environmental challenge? Have you got an early-stage idea with the ambition to create real impact?
IGNITE 2026 is a national competition and accelerator programme for first-time, mission-led founders. Created by the Ford Family Foundation in partnership with leading organisations including Cambio Consultancy and Barclays Eagle Labs, IGNITE helps social entrepreneurs turn bold ideas into scalable ventures through funding, expert support and lifelong networks.
This year, IGNITE is expanding beyond its university roots and is looking for founders from all backgrounds who are committed to solving society’s toughest challenges.
What You’ll Receive
Sixteen successful applicants will join a curated six-week Social Venture Accelerator, designed specifically for mission-led businesses.
Successful founders will receive:
- A place on a six-week Social Venture Accelerator
- One-to-one coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, investors and sector experts
- The opportunity to receive up to £20,000 in equity-free funding
- The chance to pitch live at Barclays Eagle Labs
- Lifetime membership of the IGNITE Ford Family Fellowship
- Expert support covering business modelling, impact measurement, investment readiness and growth
- Access to an inspiring network of founders, mentors and partners across the UK
The programme combines flexible online learning, peer sessions and personalised coaching to help founders move from early idea to investable social venture.
Who Should Apply?
IGNITE is looking for founders who are:
- Launching their first venture
- Building a business with a clear social or environmental mission
- Solving a genuine problem through an innovative solution
- Early stage (from idea to early trading)
- Ambitious and coachable, with the potential to scale
- Building a venture with a sustainable trading model rather than relying solely on grants
You do not need:
- A university background
- Previous entrepreneurial experience
- Existing investment
- An established network or warm introductions
