About the Opportunity
What does it take to run a place like Rutland Water and how many different careers are involved?
Anglian Water is offering a multi-stage industry experience giving young people the chance to explore careers across its Parks business. You’ll go behind the scenes at Rutland Water, try practical activities and experience roles spanning conservation and park ranger work, hospitality, watersports, visitor services and customer service.
And there’s a real opportunity at the end: complete the full experience and you’ll be offered a guaranteed interview for a Parks role with Anglian Water.
What You’ll Be Doing
The experience takes place across several stages:
- Before 12th October – Virtual Work Experience: Complete around two hours of Anglian Water virtual work experience online, in your own time.
- Monday 12th October – Meet Anglian Water: A two-hour session at Citizen Hub to meet the team, learn about Anglian Water and prepare for your visits.
- Tuesday 13th October – Rutland Water Experience Day: Spend the day exploring the park through group activities, challenges and team building.
- Tuesday 20th October – Careers in Action: Return to Rutland Water for a more hands-on day, spending time exploring conservation and park ranger activities as well as hospitality, customer information and watersports.
- Wednesday 28th October – Careers & Progression: Visit Anglian Water’s Huntingdon office to explore early-career opportunities, get application advice and celebrate completing the experience.

Who It’s For
You don’t need to already know what career you want. This experience could be a great fit if you:
- Are based in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough, aged 18-24 and not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET)
- Want to explore different jobs and industries
- Enjoy practical activities and learning by doing
- Are interested in the outdoors, environment, hospitality, watersports or working with people
- Want to build your confidence and workplace skills
- Would like the chance to progress towards a real job opportunity

Transport will be provided by Inspire 2 Ignite for the two Rutland Water days and final Huntingdon session.
