About the Opportunity

First Ascent is a highly regarded leadership development and consultancy company, working with well-known organisations including Santander, UK Sport, Diageo, and the National Nuclear Laboratory.

They are now looking for a Finance Assistant to join their friendly, high-performing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, motivated, and keen to build experience in finance and business operations within a supportive and flexible working environment

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll support the Finance function across a range of day-to-day and reporting tasks, including:

Daily / Weekly Tasks

  • Raising invoices across multiple brands
  • Updating cashflow and finance systems
  • Paying suppliers and updating Xero accounting software
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Chasing overdue payments where needed

Monthly / Quarterly Tasks

  • Month-end and KPI reporting
  • Processing expense claims
  • Releasing deferred income
  • Preparing VAT returns for HMRC

Annual & Ongoing Tasks

  • Supporting year-end draft accounts
  • Helping prepare social value and carbon footprint reports
  • Assisting with budgeting processes
  • Contributing ideas to improve finance processes

Who They’re Looking For

Essential / Useful Skills

  • Good time management and organisation
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Some experience with finance or bookkeeping (desirable, not essential)
  • Experience with Xero or similar software (helpful but not required)
