About the Opportunity

This Ignite Into Industry experience with Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) offers young people the chance to step inside the leisure and wellbeing sector and explore a wide range of careers that support local communities every day.

GLL is a large social enterprise running leisure centres, swimming pools, and specialist facilities across the UK. Their work combines sport, health, customer service, operations, and community impact making it a great industry to explore if you enjoy people-focused, active, and varied work.

This experience day is designed to give you a real insight into the sector, meet staff in different roles, and understand how leisure centres operate behind the scenes.

What to Expect on the Day

During the day, you will:

• Learn about who GLL are, their values, and their impact in local communities
• Explore the range of roles available, including:

  • Operations and centre management

  • Fitness and sports delivery

  • Aquatics and specialist facilities

  • Customer service and community engagement

• Take part in guided tours of leisure facilities, including behind-the-scenes areas
• Hear directly from staff about their career journeys, training, and progression routes
• Work in small groups on an interactive challenge, designing ideas for activities or services aimed at young people and families
• Present ideas, receive feedback, and reflect on skills such as teamwork, creativity, and communication

The experience is fully supported by Inspire 2 Ignite staff and GLL team members throughout.

• Accessibility: All venues are fully accessible, with step-free access and quiet spaces available
• Facilities on site: Toilets, lunch areas, and rest spaces are available at all sites
• Supervision: Young people are supervised and supported throughout the experience
• Transport: Support available via Inspire 2 Ignite if transport is a barrier
• This opportunity is for you if:
