About the Opportunity
Want to spend a day doing something practical while making a difference in your local community?
It Takes a City is looking for volunteers to help redecorate Crossways, its accommodation in Cambridge supporting people experiencing homelessness. The aim is to refresh 11 guest rooms and potentially some of the corridor areas, helping create a more welcoming environment for the people staying there.
You don’t need to be an experienced painter or decorator, this is a chance to get stuck in, work alongside others and contribute to a real community project.
What You’ll Be Doing
During the day, you’ll help with practical decorating tasks such as:
- Painting guest bedrooms
- Painting walls and woodwork
- Helping prepare rooms for decorating
- Using brushes and rollers
- Working as part of a team to get as much completed as possible
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on volunteering experience
- Practical painting and decorating experience
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Experience you can add to your CV
- An opportunity to learn more about the work of a local charity
- The chance to make a visible difference to a service supporting people experiencing homelessness in Cambridge
It Takes a City works with volunteers and local organisations to support its mission of ending rough sleeping due to homelessness in Cambridge.
Who It’s For
This could be a great opportunity if you enjoy practical activities, want to try something different or would like to give your time to a local cause.
