About the Project
The Big Listen is a community event taking place on Friday, 5th June 2026 in St Neots’ Market Square, bringing together the local community for a day of connection and celebration.
Description of Volunteering Position
As PR & Outreach Coordinator for The Big Listen, you’ll help spread the word about the event by building relationships with local media, community groups, and organisations. Working alongside the wider team, you’ll play a key role in raising the profile of the event ahead of the big day.
Responsibilities
- Draft and distribute press releases to local media outlets
- Build and maintain a contact list of local journalists, bloggers, and community groups
- Coordinate outreach to community organisations, businesses, and schools
- Monitor media coverage and compile a press clippings log
- Support the team with any communications or promotional activity as needed
Requirements
- Experience or interest in PR, communications, or journalism
- Confident written communicator with strong attention to detail
- Proactive and comfortable reaching out to new contacts
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks at once
