EMPOWERING ST NEOTS’ YOUTH: Innovative programmes foster entrepreneurship and community involvement.

Collaboration with National Citizen Service and local partners fuels three groundbreaking initiatives.

Inspire 2 Ignite CIC, in partnership with the National Citizen Service (NCS), is proud to announce engaging and diverse youth development programmes designed to inspire entrepreneurship and community engagement. Supported by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority along with the Birketts Community Grassroots Endowed Fund and Cambscuisine Community Fund through Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, these initiatives offer practical, real-world experience in business and community development.

Early Success

The ‘Go to Market’ Programme which took place in the run up to Christmas offered the young participants real-world business experience. Collaborating with local business owners, they gained insights into production, pricing, marketing and sales. Despite adverse weather, the event at St Neots Farm and Craft Market was a success, fostering significant hands-on learning and entrepreneurial growth.

Participating in the ‘Go to Market’ programme was an amazing experience! It was more than just learning about business. From setting up our market stall to interacting with customers, every step was a new adventure and a chance to grow.”

'Go To Market' Participant

‘Solving Socio-Economic Challenges in St Neots’ is the next project in this three phase initiative. Starting in February, this 12-week programme will see young people work with the St Neots Initiative (SNI) to address local community issues. Participants will be divided into squads, each focusing on a specific community challenge. Their journey will involve identifying problems, devising solutions, and pitching their ideas to the SNI board.

‘Curious about Ice Cream’ is the final phase of the project launching in April. This experience will enable participants to build and market an ice cream brand. From negotiating with suppliers to creating a compelling menu, engaging in various marketing activities and selling the product, this programme offers a comprehensive business and marketing
experience.

These programmes aim to empower the youth of St Neots with practical skills and community-conscious mindsets. Beyond business acumen, they foster leadership, teamwork, and a sense of civic responsibility. The diversity of experiences ensures that participants gain a broad understanding of various aspects of entrepreneurship and community participation.

This initiative has been made possible through the collaboration and support of NCS and local partners, including the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, The Birketts Community Grassroots Endowed Fund, and Cambscuisine Community Fund through Cambridgeshire Community Foundation. Their commitment to youth development in St Neots is deeply appreciated.

“At Inspire 2 Ignite, we believe passionately in the power of engaging young people in meaningful experiences. It’s so important to provide them with opportunities not just to develop skills, but also to feel that they are actively contributing to their local community. Our programmes aim to empower young people, providing them with the tools they need to shape their own futures.”
