Curious Entrepreneurs inspired at Riverside Meadows

We recently held our first Enterprise Day at Riverside Meadows Academy in St. Neots, spanning across five year groups from Year 7 to Year 11.

Our Ignition Coach, Sam Squire, and Founder, Alex Hughes, spent the entire day fully immersed in the school’s culture, engaging with all groups of young people and igniting their entrepreneurial spirits.

We found that the environment of a SEN (Special Educational Needs) school is particularly conducive to entrepreneurship. All students were able to contribute and the inclusive culture enabled our team to move at a pace that suited each group. This allowed us to deliver a program that was tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each individual student, promoting a sense of empowerment and engagement.

We are trialling a day with the Riverside students and so far I have been so impressed with the diversity of individual talents they have all been able to showcase in the activities. There are going to be a lot of happy local businesses as normally as a SEN school they really struggle to get local employers to engage. This is something as a governor of the school I want to change.

Impact from the event

As a direct outcome of our Enterprise Day, we are thrilled to report that 10 students are now actively seeking work experience, and a few are even pursuing their entrepreneurial aspirations. We were blown away by the amount of talent we witnessed at Riverside Meadows, and we are delighted to have connected these young people with industry and businesses in our network.

It’s unfortunate that many schools lack strong connections with industry, making it uncommon for young people to access such opportunities. However, at Inspire 2 Ignite, we believe in changing this status quo. By fostering relationships between schools and industry, we empower young people with the resources and connections they need to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.
