Trailblazer Opportunity: Hospitality Experience Day at Citizen Hub

About the Opportunity

Curious about hospitality but not sure whether it’s for you? This is your chance to experience it for yourself.

As part of the Youth Trailblazer programme, Citizen Hub in St Neots is offering a hands-on Hospitality Experience Day for young people who are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET).

You’ll spend the day in a real hospitality environment, trying everything from making drinks and welcoming customers to working as part of a team during live service. With a maximum of just five young people per session, it’s designed to be supportive, practical and low-pressure giving you the space to build your confidence and learn by actually getting involved.

What You’ll Be Doing

During the day, you’ll get the chance to experience different parts of hospitality, including:

• Learning coffee-making and basic barista skills
• Preparing and serving drinks
• Welcoming and speaking to customers
• Getting hands-on front-of-house experience
• Working together as part of a small team
• Learning what makes great customer service
• Seeing how a hospitality venue operates behind the scenes
• Visiting another local hospitality business to experience a different environment and have lunch
• Taking on more responsibility as your confidence grows
• Helping with end-of-day routines and reflecting on what you’ve learned

You’ll rotate between activities throughout the day, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved and try things for yourself.

Who It’s For

You should be:

• Aged 18-25 (16-17 year olds may also be considered)
• Currently not in education, employment or training (NEET)
• Living in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area

No previous hospitality or work experience is required. This experience is designed to help you build confidence and explore your options, so all you need is a willingness to have a go.

Frequency: Bi-weekly (date depending on demand and capacity)
Time: 9:00am-5:00pm
Group Size: Maximum 5 participants per session
